In French, Its Poser une Question Not Demander

In French, It's 'Poser une Question' Not 'Demander' Mistakes will always be made in French, and now you can learn from them. In English, one has  the option of saying either ask a question or pose a question. But in French, demander  cant be used with the word  question,  even though  demander  means to ask.  Poser une question  is the  best  way.  Ã‚     Ã‚  Il ma demandà © pourquoi. He asked me why.   Ã‚  Puis-je te poser une question  ?Can I ask you a question?   Ã‚  Vous pouvez poser des questions aprà ¨s la prà ©sentation. You can ask questions after the presentation. There are other, less frequently used ways, as well, to ask a question in French, including  adresser une question ( quelquun)  and  formuler une question. Its the way the language has evolved and how its been formalized. Thats how  to ask a question has been taught in French schools and how people normally express it.   Demander  is tricky in other ways, too. This regular French -er verb is also a  faux ami. It resembles the English word demand, but it has nothing to do with this rather strident action. Rather, it is the most common  French verb for the milder to ask, and it can be used to ask for something, like a favor.   Ã‚  Il ma demandà © de chercher son pull. He asked me to look for his sweater. Demander quelque chose quelquun  means to ask someone for something. Note that in French there is no for or other preposition in front of the thing being requested. But there is a preposition in front of the person being asked:   Ã‚  Ã‚  Je vais demander un stylo Michel.Im going to ask Michel for a pen. When you want to express that someone demand something, such as a new law, turn to the stronger French verb exiger.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Il a exigà © que je cherche son pull.  Ã‚  He demanded that I look for his pullover. As for the French verb poser,  in addition to being used for asking a question, it also means to put down.   Ã‚  Il a posà © son livre sur la table. He put his book on the table.

Importance of Eating Healthy

Importance of Eating Healthy Free Online Research Papers â€Å"To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art† Francois de La Rochefoucauld (1613 1680). Eating is necessary in order to live; but to eat with knowledge is a talent in it self. Unhealthy eating is one of the fastest growing health risks today. Obesity is a contributing factor which leads to many deadly illnesses and is spreading throughout the nation. There is a way to stop this killer and healthy eating is the cure. Healthful Eating will help one to live longer and give one the confidence needed in knowing that body is at its best. Making small changes in every day eating habits will enable people to move forward towards a healthier body and lifestyle. It is important that we eat healthily. To do this we have to have what is called â€Å"a diet.† To have a healthy diet, we have to make sure we eat the right kinds of foods. Nutritious foods are very beneficial; nutrients help us to grow, keep our bodies in good repair, and help us to stay fit and active. Healthful foods provide necessary nutrients to our body. Nutrients are a key factor to obtain energy so our muscles work properly, our brain remains active and our hearts continue to beat. Furthermore, â€Å"nutrients help build and strengthen bones, muscles, and tendons and regulate body processes, such as blood pressure† (WebMD 2005-2008). Living longer is what most people strive for. For countless people, it is a struggle to succeed at eating healthy. For others, this success comes naturally. â€Å"By committing to eat healthier, one will reduce their risk of many chronic diseases† (Barston, S., Toscano M., Arthur, S., 2008). Studies show that reducing daily caloric intake to nineteen hundred will increase life expectancy by up to fifteen years. Research has also proven that reducing personal calorie consumption and choosing to eat the right foods on a daily basis can make a positive impact on an individuals’ well-being. Cutting calories and making healthier choices will give one more energy and stamina (Barston, S., Toscano M., Arthur, S., 2008). With more energy, it is likely that one will become more active, which is a key element to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Changing one’s eating habits decreases the chance of getting high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. The 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggests the consummation of low fat or nonfat dairy products, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains; our body’s intake of these foods may help in preventing some diseases. Apparently, the guidelines also emphasize balancing the food we eat with our activity to maintain our weight, drinking alcohol in moderation (no more than 2 drinks a day for men and 1 drink a day for women) and limiting foods high in salt, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and added sugar (Rea, 2007). By eating many vegetables and fruits we may lower our risks of the following health problems: Lung, oral, esophageal, stomach, and colon cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and coronary artery disease (CAD). Those who choose to improve their eating behaviors will start to see their body transform and shed unnecessary fat. This significantly improves a person’s chances of living a longer, healthier life. Taking steps to become a more energetic person increases the chances of living a longer, healthier life. Choosing to eat hearty plays a vital role in giving the body the energy it needs to be and remain active. A healthy diet can help provide an individual with more liveliness, help them to stay active, and help to fight stress (Barston, S., Toscano M., Arthur, S., 2008). Stress, itself, is a killer. Having minimal amounts of anxiety in one’s life encourages a good well- being. Having proper nutrition will safeguard someone from the dangers that come with unhealthy eating. By choosing to consume fruits and vegetables, instead of ‘junk food’, a person’s physical condition could dramatically improve. There are no exceptions to the rules when it comes to someone’s health. If it looks like its loaded and unhealthy, chances are it is. For example, a baked potato is noted on the food pyramid as being a healthy food choice. Once cheese, bacon, sour cream, and butter are added, one begins pushing the limits of healthy eating. The key for most people is to listen to what their conscience is saying. One of the first questions to consider is; is there a feeling of hunger? If the answer happens to be no, then individuals should focus their mind on other activities such as reading, walking, or bicycling. One should take advantage of physical activities â€Å"he† or â€Å"she† and â€Å"his† or â€Å"her† acquaintances enjoy doing together (Eating Healthy, 2006). When friends join each other in making healthy eating choices and keeping fit, the success rate for accomplishing set goals becomes much greater. The possibilities of achieving and maintaini ng good health is influenced by the company someone chooses to keep. One should inform friends and family about new dieting goals and encourage them to eat healthy as well. Doing so will develop a support system and encourage all to develop healthy lifestyles. There are steps that people can take to begin making the change to a healthier life. First, eat in modesty by portioning out correct serving sizes. During the first week, begin shopping for healthier foods. One should learn â€Å"his† or â€Å"her† likes and dislikes. Not only is about eating healthy, it is also about eating the right portion sizes. Learning the correct portion sizes will become easier with time. Becoming educated and doing research on what is considered healthy eating is another step one can take to become successful with personal goals. Using substitution may also allow individuals to reach their goals. For example, a person can jump start ‘his† or â€Å"her† diet in the mornings by eating an apple with breakfast. An apple, instead of coffee, will give one the extra boost of energy that is needed to complete a busy morning routine. Substituting foods can increase energy as well as cut calories. Not everyone is born with the ab ility to know how to eat hearty; however, everyone is capable of learning. â€Å"Healthy eating requires some planning and purpose† (Rodgers, E., 2005). Everyone that is new to the standard of healthier living knows that it is not easy. It takes discipline and effort to incorporate successfully healthful eating habits into everyday lifestyle. Once the new way of life has become habit, one will gain confidence as â€Å"his† or â€Å"her† body image begins to change. Once diets become healthier; metabolism rates will increase; one will continue to look and feel better; both physically and mentally. Achieving set goals will have a positive impact on self-esteem, one’s confidence. These emotions should be used to encourage healthy eating choices throughout daily routines. It is important when choosing to set goals towards a healthier lifestyle, one remains realistic. Set sensible goals, so that there is a gradual change. Changing too much at one time sets one up for failure. Rodgers, E. (2005) stated that, â€Å"food is one of lifes greatest pleasures, so enjoy it†. There are ways to enjoy food using a healthy approach. There are countless types of cookbooks that cater to a healthier lifestyle. There are many ways of creating tasty meals using vegetables and fruits. One must be willing to be creative and willing to try new foods. Setting goals for one-self; may be much different from what others choose. Goals should be set on a personal level. An example would be: one may choose to cut out regular soda consumption, while another may choose to limit dining-out to once weekly. People may find it more effective to begin setting small goals and progressively increasing expectations to prevent the feeling of being overwhelmed. Knowing one’s body is at its best is the key element in sticking with the decision to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many people choose to keep special items of clothing in hopes of wearing it comfortably again. With effort and strength to make healthy eating choices, it is a possible goal. Not only can it become a personal change, others will notice too. As one’s body image begins to transform, confidence improves, vivacity of life becomes more evident, and others observe the difference as well. Society today, looking one’s best is highly recommended to be successful in the corporate world. Social events also necessitate the need for one, to look ‘his† or â€Å"her† best. Every aspect of one’s life can improve significantly with choosing a healthy lifestyle. Individuals empower themselves by controlling what and how much they eat. Life offers many exceptional pleasures and among them are delicacies of food. Enjoy the delicious fruits of nature but be sure to do it sparingly. The choices we make greatly affect our health. Making some simple nutritious and healthy changes in our food choices can make all the difference and have an exceptional impact on our body, health, and life span. Over indulging will bring a life time of sorrow. So embrace life and eat healthful, with doing that, one will ensure a longer healthier life. With time, patience and dedication we can all successfully learn the art of eating intelligently! If one is practicing unhealthful eating, ask one-self, is it worth it? Physical fitness means any body movement or activity that involves maintaining or enhances overall health and fitness. Exercise is used for many different reasons such as developing better skills in a sport, building endurance, and enhancing general reflexes. The fitness world is expanding every day from having a muscle bound body for the men, to a slim and trim look for the ladies. Everybody is on a continuous battle for achieving that perfect body. In order to compile such a task takes detection, time, goals, and a strong mind. There are two major factors that determine the physical appearance of a person, how they feel and their weight. Diet and exercise is a great mediator in the way a person looks, weighs and feels. Your diet will greatly impact on the way you look, the way you approach things and the amount you will be able to do physically. A good balanced diet consists of the five major food groups. No single food can provide all the essential nutrients needed for good health and well being. The five major food groups are: Bread and Cereal, Fruit, Vegetables, Meat and Meat Alternatives and the Milk Group. Bread and Cereal are recommended for six or seven serves per day. Fruit is recommended for two to three serves per day. Vegetables are recommended for four serves per day. Meat and Meat Alternatives are recommended for one serve per day. The Milk Group for a young or still growing person is of much greater importance than when the person has stopped growing. The reason for this is because a growing body needs fats and dairy products for energy and nutrients. After growing has stopped your body will store this as fat because the need for energy and nutrients is not as great. If you follow these plans to eat you will look and feel great, you will also be able to participate in more physical activities such as running, skipping and swimming. The food groups are broken up into three other groups: Eat Most, Eat Moderately and Eat Least. The eat most food group consists of foods such as: whole grain cereals, bread , pasta, rice, vegetables and fruit. The eat moderately food group consists of foods such as: milk, cheese, yoghurt, lean meat, poultry, fish, nuts, and eggs. The eat least food group contains foods like: butter, margarine, oils and sugar. Also to compensate for the fluids lost through perspiration, expiration and urine and feces we should drink two to three liters of water per day. These ideas may contribute to general health and well-being if put into practice. Exercise will also help you lose weight and have higher self-esteem by burning calories that will make you thinner. Exercise will also work your muscles and make you more flexible and agile. By participating in sport and exercise you develop physical skill and group loyalty. There are different kind of exercises that work out different parts of the body, and exercises are grouped into three types. Flexibility exercises such as stretching improve the range of motion of muscles and joints. Aerobic exercises like cycling, walking, running, hiking, or even playing tennis these exercises help in building cardiovascular endurance. And finally Anaerobic exercises include weight training, and sprinting these increase short-term muscle strength. Exercise does more then reduce weight, it can improve both our health and fitness, and should involve using as much of the body as possible. Exercise has two main benefits the first is short-term these are effects that happen during the activity like the heart rate will increase , which will increase the flow and pressure of blood. The second benefit is long-term. Long-term are lasting effects which effect the body like the heart becomes bigger, stronger and capable of pumping more blood. The lungs will also get more oxygen to the muscles, the muscles will increase in size and strength, and the cardiovascular system which is made up of two parts the heart and the blood vessels will be in better condition, everything is a chain reaction. Macbeth a tragic hero Essay Example for Free

Macbeth a tragic hero Essay A Tragic Hero is a common figure in many of Shakespeares works. A Tragic Hero is usually a figure of royalty, fame or greatness. This person is predominately good, but falls from prominence due to personality flaws that eventually lead to self-destruction. Macbeths major flaws are his ambition and impressionability. Due to their flaws, a Tragic Heros actions are often atrocious and cause them to battle with their conscience after their desires have been accomplished. These battles with their conscience evoke empathy from the audience. A Shakespearean Tragic Hero will always lose their life in the end of the play as a result of re-establishment of what is good in the play. In Shakespeares Macbeth, the title figure of the play can be seen as the Tragic Hero. There are many factors which contribute to the decline of Macbeth. The three main factors which contribute greatly to Macbeths degeneration are the prophecies which were told to him by the witches, Lady Macbeths influence and ability to manipulate Macbeths judgment, and finally Macbeths long time ambition which drove his desire to be king. Macbeths growing character decays from a noble man to a violent individual. When the play begins, Macbeths greatness is already established. Macbeth has already earned the title of Thane of Glamis and will soon become the Thane of Cawdor. The fact that he has these titles demonstrates to the reader that Macbeth is good and an important figure of responsibility. He is also addressed as Valiant cousin, worthy gentlemen. (Shakespeare 1:2 26), Brave Macbeth, well he deserves that name. (Shakespeare 1:2 18) and as Worthy Thane. by King Duncan. They way in which he is addressed by the influential members of his country further informs the reader that Macbeth is respectable. However, after Macbeth interacts with the three witches, his curiosity is stirred by their prophecies, especially their prediction that he will become king. He commits murder in order to fulfill their prophecy and then returns to the three witches a second time for reassurance. The three witches, with the aid of three apparitions, then revealed to Macbeth in Act 5, Scene 1 the following prophecies: Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff! Beware the Than of  Fife!Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Be bloody, bold and resolute. Laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm MacbethBe lion-mettled, proud and take no care who chafes, who frets or where conspirers are. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him. (Shakespeare 4:1 80-107) Because of these predictions, Macbeth believes that no one can harm him. However, this is a false sense of security. Macduff, who was born by a Caesarean section and therefore was not born of woman, ultimately killed Macbeth, thus revealing that the witches predictions were only half-truths. Macbeths good nature is increasingly defeated by one of his major flaws-ambition. His ambition and desire to become king leads Macbeth to take rash and sudden actions that are immoral. This includes ordering the murders of his friend Banquo and his son and Lady Macduff and her children, as well as personally handling the murder of King Duncan. His ambition is also displayed by his willingness to kill anyone who threatens his power. Macbeth is largely influenced not only by the three witches, but by Lady Macbeth as well. Lady Macbeth encourages Macbeth to murder the king, Duncan. She helps plan out the murder and even offers to do it herself. When Macbeth changes his mind and decides not to carry out Duncans murder, Lady Macbeth questions his masculinity and love for her. [We will proceed no further in this business.] From this time such I account thy love. Art thou afeard to be the same in thine act and valor as thou art in desire? Woudst thou have that which thou esteemst the ornament of life and live a coward in thine own esteem, letting I dare not wait upon I would, like the poor cat I th adage? When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than you were, you would be so much more than a manThey have made themselves and that their fitness now does unmake you (Shakespeare 1:7 34-62) After Lady Macbeth accuses him of acting like a coward, he agrees to continue with Duncans murder. Macbeth is a prime example of a Shakespearean Tragic Hero. He is represented as a good man who, through his major character flaws- ambition and impressionability- falls from grace. After struggling with his conscience over the evil deeds he had committed throughout the play, Macbeth is killed and the rightful heir to the throne is restored to power.

Hate Crimes Essay -- essays research papers fc

Final English Paper   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Have you ever had a crime committed against you? In today’s society we are faced with crime all around us. There are crimes committed out of rage, revenge, jealousy, love, greed, etc; but there is another type of crime, or one could say act of violence, called hate crimes. Have you ever thought maybe that crime was committed against just because of your racial background, or religious beliefs? Throughout this country’s history, hate crimes have taken place, either by known groups who hate and, most commonly, individuals that are inspired by hate. Not until recently have the people of this country ever wanted to pass a law that would punish the guilty to an even higher extent because the crime was committed out of hate. There are two sides to every issue. Whether or not the issue is valid or if it is an unrealistic concept created by the media or by the federal government, then, in my opinion, passing a law of this type is totally unrealistic. It is a lmost impossible to prove that a crime is committed out of a bias hate. I feel that a law that punishes hate crimes should not be passed. One main question that would be asked is, â€Å"Prove it?† Saying just that, in some cases destroys the effectiveness of the law, especially if and when the crime is committed when both parties share the same sexual, ethnic or religious back- ground. Now, I think that the money grubbing lawyers and the media would love this new law because, for one, the prosecuting lawyers would, in many cases, use it against the defendant, especially if it was a white vs. black case, or vice versa. The media would emphasize racial discrimination just because the general public, especially minorities, love controversies that may make them sympathetic. Also, I would think that this law would tie up more court time. If you think about it, there would be more cases popping up all over the place and also what ever case is going to be herd the word, hate, would probably be thrown in there as well which would drag the case out even longer. Maybe, not as much in criminal cases, but more so in civil s uites. Look at how â€Å"sue happy† the public is now. This law would only add to it. For example, people sue their neighbors for their pets going to the bathroom on their lawn. How ridiculous is that? Another example is a lady put here dog in the microwave t... ...t â€Å"rape with hate† or â€Å"murder with hate.† You should be punished for the actual crime, not your feelings that go along with it. Now even if this law were passed, would the police and courts enforce it? If they didn’t, what would be the point of passing it to begin with. I guess you could say that about any law but in my eyes I could see our â€Å"system† twisting everything around. They would probably convict innocent people of â€Å"Hate crimes† and let the guilty people of â€Å"Hate† go. I don’t think it is fair to add another category to the crime list that could in the long run, ruin some peoples lives. I just think that it is wrong. I hope you see my point of view and agree with my opinion. Bibliography Jacobs, James. Hate Crimes. Toyota’s marketing strategy & practice

The total market capitalization is $507B. In terms of price performance, TATA Inc has shown the most impressive percentage change. They recorded a 2.2% increase while Daimterchryster showed a 0.25% increase. Honda co lagged behind the list of top performers with 0.13%. The lowest performers were Ford Co, Chicago, Toyota and Gen Motors with performance changes of –2.3%, 0.9%, 0.13% and 0.12% respectively. There has been a decline in the industrial gearing levels. This is because the firms are using less of debt than equity itself to finance its operations. However there is an improvement in the industrial Net Profit Margin Ratio. This can be attributed to favourable fiscal legislations, sound production and marketing strategies and technological advancement that has led to low manufacturing and selling costs. There has been a tremendous growth in market capitalization. Assuming that the market price per share was at a constant level, such growth would be attributed by a positive investor reaction/ confidence in the sector. KEY COMPETITORS Honda motors Tata motor company Ford motor company Daimlerchrysler Inc The automobile motor industry has been experiencing a fast growth. The decline in the average industrial gearing ratio sends positive signals to potential investors since it suggests low financial risk. The firms would also be able to borrow more from external sources without adversely affecting their liquidity. Tremendous improvements on profit may however attract new entrants into the industry thus diluting the market powers/ shares of the incumbents. MARKETING MIX PRODUCT MIX Toyota plc manufactures a wide range of vehicle brands. These include Hilux, Prius, RAV 4, Avents, Amazon among others. The company also specializes in the manufacture and sale of robots and heavy self propelling machines like tractors. They also offer consultation services on motor manufacture and design. Toyota sells its products to the US, Europe and Africa.PROMOTION Toyota uses a vast range of marketing strategies to market its fleet of products. These include the internet (website), radio and television. Others include magazines, billboards and also through trade exhibitions usually held at its points of sale. Public relations is also adopted by the company for instance through press releases and conferences. It also accomplishes this by sponsoring of clubs and other associations who use the company’s logo in their sportswears. The company also indulges in sales promotions where vehicles are freely offered with a view to attract more customers in the long- term. PRICE In order to arrive at the price at which to offer for sale for its products, Toyota considers quite a number of significant factors. These are:- The cost and availability of materials needed in the manufacturing process. Labor costs for all the staff i.e. production, assembly, marketing and top directors. Distribution costs i.e. costs associated with the final delivery of goods/ products to their customers. To avoid understanding their manufacturing costs, overheads are absorbed and allocated into the cost units. And using a given mark-up normally determined by the management, the price is determined. The company also does price discrimination as a marketing strategy. Prices vary depending on the financial capability of the respective customers. Price also varies with seasons with high prices being charged during the boom period and low prices during the recessionary economic conditions. Price also varies depending on the mode of payment whether cash or hire purchase. PLACEMENT/ DISTRIBUTION The company’s headquarters are based in the UK. It has many distribution centers worldwide. This is important for Toyota as it enables their products closer to the customers. The Company’s employee workforce approximates 3700.The team comprises of highly competent staff who are both motivated and committed to the achievement of the overall objectives of the firm. The firm has a sufficient mechanism of processing customer’s orders as and when required, at times online. Inventory is properly managed by keeping optimum inventory levels. This maintains both the ordering and holding costs at a minimum. INTERNAL MARKET STRATEGY The host Country for the firm to enter shall be France. France is well known for the manufacture and sale of highly merchandised Peugeot cars through PSA Peugeot inc.It is rich in technology and becoming a partner with a company from such a state would give Toyota economies of scale advantages. The country enjoys a central location and would serve as the most appropriate distribution center. MODE OF ENTRY Toyota shall liase with PSA Peugeot through strategic partnership. This would be the most ideal because profits and losses would be shared at an agreed proportion between the two partner companies. Partnership also gives the company(s) taxation advantages since dividends would not be subjected to taxation. Partnerships are also easy to initiate compared to other modes that are characterized by complicated legal procedures and conformation with International Financial Reporting Standards. With partnership, it is easy to incorporate as many new entrants in the long run so long as they are limited to 20. Selling perishable products takes difficulty for the distributors because they need to ensure that their products are still in good condition when it is delivered to final consumers. Perishable products need time, proper management, and proper handling upon selling to be able to guaranty customers that they will receive a good product. The group also wants to ensure that the consumers will be able to receiv e proper nutrients. III.Persons involved Tasks of the Group Members All group members performed equal tasks. The products are equally distributed to the group members and they are able to sold daing to their respective places, neighbors, friends, classmates and schoolmates. Other group members sold it directly in the market, canteens and stores. After experiencing selling individually, the group agreed to sell it as a whole. Starlet, being one who is responsible to contact her brother have done her part by informing him when and how many daing orders are going to be delivered to the group. She is also responsible for bringing the products to the group after she gets it from her brother. Maila have done her tasks successfully in distributing and selling daing. On the first order, Maila, being one of the members of the JBEES organization, asked help to the organization in distributing and selling bangus, they successfully sold out eighty (80) packs of daing na bangus. After that, she sells bangus by herself to gain profit as well as experience selling such product. She sold it to her family, neighbors, friends, and even professors in CLSU. Shekinah, another member of the group, have done her part successfully by selling daing not only to her family, neighbors, friends, and schoolmates but also to her churchmates and to stores near to their house. Jay-Ann sold her daing to her friends, classmates and boardmates. By means of connecting to other people, called networking, the group had fast distribution and sale. While selling daing, she also sold mushrooms on her own in order to have a high profit. Starlet uses her connections to other people in order to sell her products immediately; she sold bangus to her organization, family and friends. Chris John Paul also used his being a marketer. After he sold proportionate number of daing, he makes Maja Blanca on his own strategy and sold it to his classmates. After selling individually, the group agreed to help each other for faster distribution and sale. The group sells inside CLSU that is why it takes short period of time selling those products. The group went to Old Market and offered them the product. They also offered daing to the tricycle drivers inside CLSU and to the construction workers currently working in the hostel. About twenty workers bought the product and they really liked its taste that is why they bought another twenty pieces to the group. The group makes sure that their product, daing na bangus, are fresh and delicious. Before placing an order, the group has to make sure that they can dispose the product fast to maintain its good taste. If there are excess daing, the group puts it on a proper storage to maintain the good quality of the product. Reasons Why Tasks are done As part of the distribution activity the group members has to cooperate to the group. Each member did those tasks because they want to acquire more knowledge about selling products. They have to experience persuading customers to buy their products. They want to have a good communication to other people to easily sell and distribute their products. They did those tasks to be more trained and confident on dealing with different people in the near future. Also, they want to have profit from the selling activity. And most of all, they want to see themselves done those tasks successfully and confidently. IV. How Undertaken Duration of the Activity The selling activity started on June 28, 2010 and ended on August 23, 2010. V. Who were the customers and why were they chosen? The group members’ customers are their classmates, friends, professors, family, neighbors, nato tricycle drivers, and construction workers in CLSU. The group sold daing to their classmates since many of them are living on a dormitory, and boarding house. Their classmates commonly had problem thinking of their viand for their meals that is why some of them bought daing from the group. Since one pack of daing consists of three (3) pieces, they can share it to their board mates or roommates so that the cost will be cheaper. They also sold daing to their friends inside and outside CLSU. They spread the message about the product through the use of cellphone. If for some reasons their friends have no money, they will still find ways to endorse the product to their friends so that it will be more fast and easy for the group. The group, being persistent to their selling activity, sold their products even to their professors. Mostly, their professors are easy to persuade since most of them have their own family and they always think of a dish for their family’s dinner before they got home during afternoon. That is why they are easy to convince and they are familiar to the boneless bangus’ deliciously taste. During the first distribution, some of the group members bought daing for their family’s consumption. For them, it is really worth buying because of its taste and nutrients. Commonly, it can be served with a mixed tomato, onion and â€Å"alamang† or other vegetable dishes. It can also be served on breakfast with fried rice which commonly favored by most family members. Neighbors are easily reached by the members, most of them often stayed at their house that is why anytime, they could get the products. The nato tricycle drivers are quite hard to persuade into buying the groups product, daing, their main reason is their low daily income. The group exerted patience on persuading them until such time there are drivers who bought the product. The construction workers are currently working on CLSU hostel, upon convincing them they first thought of their salary because they usually get their salaries during Saturdays and we sell daing on weekdays. On that case, a deal has been made. The group sold daing to them on credit. The group could give the Boneless bangus to them upon delivery from Dagupan and so they are going to pay on the stipulated date. VI,. Approach to Customers Convincing people to buy â€Å"Boneless Bangus† is quite difficult for the group. Aside from the fact that the product is in good quality, delicious and affordable; a good approach to customers is highly important. First, the group introduced themselves as a marketing student and selling is part of the distribution activity as a fulfillment to their subject Marketing305. Second, they approached their customers politely and educate them about the product; where it is made and how it is being made. Their selling skills helped them easily dispose the products. They make sure that they are knowledgeable about the product they are offering, and have a good customer relationship to their buyers. These are the elements to have a successful selling activity. Benefits and Advantages of the Product Nowadays many people die from cancer, heart attack, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and other diseases because of their bad eating habits. That is why one must have to be conscious about their health. The product â€Å"Boneless Bangus† is nutritious that is rich in proteins, fats, vitamins, calcium and iodine. Change a Column Name in MySQL

Change a Column Name in MySQL If you already created your MySQL database, and you decide after the fact that one of the columns is named incorrectly, you dont need to remove it and add a replacement; you can simply rename it. Renaming a Database Column You rename a column in MySQL using the  ALTER TABLE and CHANGE  commands together to change an existing column. For example, say the  column is currently named Soda, but you decide that Beverage is  a more appropriate title. The column is located on the table entitled Menu. Here is an example of how to change it: ALTER TABLE menu CHANGE soda beverage varchar(10) ; In a generic  form, where you substitute your terms, this is: ALTER TABLE tablename CHANGE oldname newname varchar(10) ; About VARCHAR The VARCHAR(10) in the examples can change to be appropriate for your column. VARCHAR is a character string of variable length. The maximum length- in this example  it is 10- indicates the maximum number of characters you want to store in the column. VARCHAR(25) could store up to 25 characters. Other Uses for ALTER TABLE The ALTER TABLE  command can also be used to add a new column to a table or to remove an entire column and all its data from a table. For example, to add a column use: ALTER TABLE table_nameADD column_name datatype To delete a column, use: ALTER TABLE table_nameDROP COLUMN column_name   You can also make changes to a columns size and type in MySQL.

Research and write an article on the human genome and how genetic var Case Study

Research and write an article on the human genome and how genetic var iation in the genome has a potential use in health screening - Case Study Example This further comprises of Y chromosome (found in males only) and X chromosomes (two in females and one in males). A mitochondrial DNA is also inclusive in every mitochondrion. The genomes are further classified into noncoding and coding DNA sequences. The coding sequence is unique in that they are transcribed into mRNA to be later converted into proteins in a human lifetime. The other noncoding genomes which use the biggest fraction are not involved in encoding proteins but are instead used for other biological processes (Adolph 1997) Human biology, however, comprises of both the inherited and the environmental traits. It is important to understand that the environment human beings are exposed to can catalyze the occurrence of a disease when coupled with a genetic disorder. For example, an asthma patient is more likely to get an asthmatic attack when exposed to cold and dusty conditions as opposed to an average person. An individual can be said to have a sequence variation when there is an excess or complete absence of a chromosome. Epialleles are defined as identical genes but with differences only exhibited in their epigenetic states (Bodmer 1997). Further classified into three types, epialleles influenced by genotype, determined directly by the genotype of the individual and those purely independent of the individual’s genotype, they are influenced by environmental factors be they hormones or diet. Compared to animals such as chimpanzees that are purported to share a common ancestry with human beings, human beings have undergone a more sophisticated evolution as compared to chimps. (Charles R.Cantor, 2004). Human beings also exhibit many traits of diseases such as Klinefelter Syndrome, sickle cell anemia among others. Genetic screening is defined as the search or screening for persons with symptomatic diseases with the aim to identify individuals with a genotype that predisposes them

Sociology essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Sociology - Essay Example Second, since impartiality is an illusion, science according to the ideological argument, subverts oppressed groups, females, ethnics, third-world peoples. Modernity came into being with the Resurgence. Modernity implies the progressive economic and managerial rationalization and differentiation of the social world. In essence this term emerged in the background of the development of the capitalist state. Anthropologists have been functioning towards studying modern times, but have now gone past that. The fundamental act of modernity is to query the foundations of past knowledge. Modernization: This term is frequently used to refer to the stages of social growth which are based upon industrialization. Modernization is a diverse unity of socio-economic changes generated by scientific and hi-tech discoveries and innovations. "Modern, overloaded individuals, greatly trying to maintain rootedness and integrity...in the end are pushed to the point where there is little reason not to believe that all value-orientations are equally well-founded. Therefore, more and more, choice becomes meaningless. We must now come to terms with the second revolution, that of the Twentieth Century, of postmodernity, which is the enormous process of the destruction of meaning equal to the earlier destruction of appearances. Whoever lives by meaning dies by meaning (Browning 10 2000) Some theorists define post-modernism as an eclectic movement, originating in aesthetics, architecture and philosophy. Postmodernism espouses a methodical skepticism of grounded theoretical perspectives. Applied to anthropology, this skepticism has shifted focal point from the observation of a particular society to the surveillance of the (anthropological) observer. Postmodernity concentrates on the tensions of dissimilarity and resemblance which erupts from processes of globalization: the accelerating flow of people, the increasingly dense and common cross-cultural interactions, and the unavoidable intersections of limited and global knowledge.Postmodernists are doubtful of authoritative definitions and singular narratives of any route of events. Post-modern attacks on ethnography are based on the conviction that there is no true objectivity. The genuine implementation of the scientific method is impossible. . Sceptical Postmodernists: They are tremendously critical of the modern subject. They think the subject to be a "linguistic convention". They also reject any consideration of time because for them the modern understanding of time is oppressive in that it controls and measures individuals. They reject Theory because theories are plentiful, and no theory is considered more correct that any other. They feel that theory conceals, distorts, and obfuscates, it is alienated, disparated, and dissonant,
